Care for shelter dogs, cats as a Humane Society volunteer The Humane Society of Ventura County is looking volunteers to help care for the animals at the shelter at 402 Bryant St., Ojai. This is recommended as a summer activity for children, especially for those who are considering adopting a pet. Children ages 10 to 18 must have parental approval to participate. No one under 10 can volunteer. Volunteers help with walking pets, working in the shelter office, helping at the shelter booth at county events, serving as committee members, and exercising the kittens and cats with various toys. Group orientations are held four times a month and orientation dates must be scheduled in advance. Download an application from www.humanesocietyvc.org./ VOLS.html to volunteer. Youths under the age of 18 need a parent or guardian's signature of consent on the form before training starts. For more information or to schedule an orientation, call Suzanne Soprano, volunteer coordinator at (805) 646-6505. |
