Simi celebrates the Fourth of July
Gates open next Friday at 3 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Simi Valley (noontime club) will host the 38th annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza at Rancho Santa Susana Park, 5005 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. and live entertainment will start at 3:30 p.m.

The Platinum Groove will perform a mix of live music ranging from disco to oldies to Motown to Top 40.

Other entertainment includes a K-9 demonstration by The Simi Valley Police Department, Puma Karate demonstration, and Polynesian Dance Group.

The Children's Fun Zone will include inflatables, a rock climbing wall, and games.

Food for sale will include hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, and pizza.

Beer and wine stations will be set up throughout the grounds. A drink limit will be enforced for those of drinking age.

Craft booths will offer items for sale.

The fireworks show will include 30 percent more pyrotechnics. Attendees may bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating.

Admission is free to the public. Event proceeds will benefit local charities.

The event is co-sponsored by the city of Simi Valley and the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.

Parking will be available at the Metro/Amtrak station and Simi Valley High School.

Shuttle service will not be provided. Residents are advised to arrive early for choice parking spaces.
