Happy Mother's Day 2008
You somehow always find the time to give to those in need and never expect anything in return. We just wanted to let you know how much we love you. You truly are an inspiration to all. Happy Mother's Day. Susan, Myrna and Allen When I was 8 years old, my mother and I boarded a Greyhound bus. As we rode along, late in the afternoon, we overheard the man behind us telling someone that he hadn't eaten all day. Without hesitating, my mother reached into her bag and handed him an apple, which he gratefully accepted. This type of act was not unusual for her. She expressed kindness at every opportunity, and it became a lifelong lesson for me. Donna Cohen-Gonzales My mom is gone, and I miss her very much. If she were here I would make sure and give her a big hug and tell her how much I love her.
I ask you all to think about how wonderful your mother really is and give her a big hug for it. Happy Mothers Day, Mom, I love you! Randy Shoemaker In Chicago, 1954, two years after my mom gave birth to me, her beloved husband unexpectedly passed away. This put her in the challenging position of raising me herself. She found work as a bookkeeper and got neighbors to watch me. When I turned 8, she packed us up and drove us cross-country to make a better life for us in California. She continued to work hard and make sacrifices to provide me with all she could: a nice home, good education and a love for the arts. She passed in '92. I miss her dearly. Marilyn Hall My mom gave me a card with a quote by Maya Angelou that read: "The woman who truly intends to live a good life is already living phenomenally, since intent is part of the achievement."
On Sundays we gather around her to table to enjoy a wonderful meal, and we are gently reminded the importance of family and staying connected. We love you, Mom! Lynn Nolan I am compelled by emotions of pride to give honor to Jenny, my wife of 11 years and the mother of my three boys. In recent years she became a registered dietitian, earned a master's degree, has organized our social schedule (parties, holidays, trips, kid sports), managed our finances, worked on weekends, maintained our household and began home schooling our second-grader She is truly awesome- an incredible mother who is selfsacrificing, loves us and makes time for us. I love you, Mom. Shirley Tabora When I think of my mother I think of my best friend. She is always there to help me no matter the problem. I could never thank her enough. She has done a wonderful job raising me and my siblings. I know we fight and say hurtful things to each other, but I never really mean them. Stephanie Norris My mom is not just my mother- she's my friend, my teacher and my rock. She has made me the woman I am today. She listens with her heart and hears with her soul. Debra Ann Norris Dear Mom, remembering when I was a little girl I would sit on your lap. As I grew we would sing, dance and laugh. You were the tip to my tap. You were the lines in my map. Rashelle Grasso My mother raised me by herself after my father died in World War II. She was our Girl Scout leader, and all the girls loved her. When my friends came over, we played "treasure hunt." She hid clues all around our yard. Our neighbor's last name was Fine. They had a snowball bush by their front porch. The first clue mother made up said, "It's a fine day for throwing snowballs." Under the snowball bush we found the second clue and went on to find five more. The prize was cookies and milk for all. Sue Arasmith My mom is special because she is beautiful and very kind and helps me with my problems. She cooks, cleans and works in our yard a lot. She is a Christian woman and is very confident and has a lot of faith and trust in God. She helps me collect Littlest Petshop, a bobblehead toy with different animals. I'm just proud to say that my mom is my mom. I love my mom. Kelly Winter I couldn't describe how special my mom is with a million words, so here's a few to sum her up. My mom is beautiful, encouraging, generous and kind. She's a good cook, and I thank her for all she's done. My mom's the best one I could wish for. I love my mom! Parker Nolan, 9 My mom is very special. She took care of my grandmother who was suffering from Alzheimer's and took care of me and my family. I love her very much! She is always there for me. She never yelled at me. She is polite, sensitive and smart. She has pain issues but still takes care of me and my brother. Most of my mom's family has passed away, including both her parents. I try to help her to feel better. I love her more than anything. She is well mannered, beautiful and a wonderful mom. Sydney Goldbloom, 8 Everyone's mom is special in their own way. My mom is special to me because she is one of the few parents on my wrestling team to come to all of the events to support me. She cheers me on and motivates me while many others have no one. Even after a long day at a wrestling tournament when she just wants to get some rest, she takes me to get some dinner. Although I may not make it apparent all of the time, I love her and appreciate her for these things that she does. Kyle Hasan Mom, it seems like it was yesterday you tied my hair in bows And sent me on my way to school with those I did not know It seems like it was yesterday you taught me right from wrong And how I loved to watch you sew those things that took so long. It seems like only yesterday you watched my kids grow up You'd pick them up from school some days and bought them pretty stuff. I thank you, Mom, for everything you always seem to do And I thank God every day for giving me to you. Debi Gal My mom is one of the most important persons of my life. She's really caring, kind and thinks about others. One time while still living in Vietnam, she saw me come home with the sad face. She knows I had gotten into big trouble. I was so upset that I burst into tears. Right at that moment she came to me, tenderly hugged me, and asked, "Are you okay?" She comforted me with all her heart. After that I stopped crying. The sad face slowly turned into a smile. I truly love and respect my mom. Quang Le The thing that I appreciate most about my mom is the way she deals with my fiery personality. When I yell, my mom deals with me very patiently instead of yelling back. She does a lot of stuff for me that she doesn't want to do. She helps me with my homework. She eats where I want to eat and what I want to eat. She also has really good organizational skills. For example, she helps me organize my backpack, bookshelves and my binder. Finally, she's sensitive to my feelings, and she means the world to me. Kate Cleveland My mom knew better than the best experts. When I was young I had severe learning difficulties. The best "expert" told my mom I would be nothing more than a "human vegetable." With no teaching credential she home-schooled me excellently. Throughout high school and college she kept encouraging me, sometimes until 3 a.m., believing in me even when I had given up. Through her faith in me I graduated from university with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. She's now 83 and still encouraging me. Mom is indeed special. Jack Pattison Mom, Remember when I was young and you asked me how much I loved you? I always said more than anything in the whole wide world. I meant it every single time. I know I don't show it, but I appreciate you so much for making me into who I am and who I will be. Even though we fight sometimes, I'd like to think it brings us closer together. Riley Morse My mother is very special to me because she never lets me get down on myself during a baseball game and always makes me smile. All my most impressive memories with my mother are during baseball games. For example, when I struck out with players on base, I got really angry at myself. But once I heard my mother cheering me on, I felt more confident at bat so I got three more hits for our team that game. I also did much better on the defensive side, too. In conclusion, she gives me the strength to do anything. Michael Gill My mother is not like most. The hardworker that she is makes her special. Day and night, she is continually active to keep the family stable. During the day, my mother is cooking, whereas during the night, she goes to work. She works longer than most mothers do to save money for my future. "Thanks, Mom," I say to her a million times. However, as much as I try, I just can't demonstrate my respect to her enough for all that she does for me. Kevin Li Mom, nothing I can say will match the gratitude I feel in my heart. After the countless times I let you down, over many years, your love never waivered and your encouragement never failed. There were so many times that I thought you should give up on me, but that same thought never crossed your mind. For all the pain I put you through, you loved me nonetheless. It's because of you that we are able to laugh together again, only now we both get to share our love with our little angel baby. I love you. Amy D. Dear Mom, Why do you rock? Well, besides the fact that we share the genes and the same good looks, I'd have to say your affection, your hard work, your personal taxi and your love. Although not so much your cooking, ha ha, well you do make a killer PB&J. We're kidding, thanks for that, too. We just wanted to let you know that even though sometimes it may not seem true. Happy Mother's Day! Kyle and Kory Quiroz Amanda and Katelynn Hayward Reared during the depression, I never realized we were poor. I attribute this lack of knowledge to my mother. She managed to have good dinners always. She accomplished this by growing our own vegetables and eating our own homegrown fruit. What fruit that was not eaten was canned. Leftovers went into soup. She never said we cannot afford an item. She could talk me into something else. I was an adult before I came to realize how hard she had worked to do all this. Jack Brewer For Mom, who's always been there for me, who's always listened to everything I have to say. Whose sharp eyes have never missed anything I've tried to slip in under the radar. And whose tireless patience with her crazy girls has always held steady. Mom, I love you with all my heart. To the one who has always been there for us, in all that we do, no matter what. Your input into my daily life has been the one thing that helps me think through my problems, for which I am forever grateful. Have a wonderful Mother's Day! Eddy Lopez, 6 My mother passed away 10 years ago, and there isn't a day goes by that I don't remember something she did or how she influenced my life. From the first time I left home to go to college she would faithfully write me every week. Even after I moved to California in 1973 those weekly letters kept me connected with my family. We did talk on the phone, but those conversations are long gone. But, I still have most of her letters, and I can hear her voice and see her smile when I reread them. Becky Stroub Dear Mom, I love you so much. You are the best mom a daughter could have. You are always there for me and support me in everything I do. You have never missed any of my volleyball or soccer games and you are in the stands always cheering me on. You always want the best for Brian and I. To you we always come first, and that means so much to me. If "supermom" was in the dictionary, your name would be next to it. I just want to say thank you for all that you have done for me and I love you with all of my heart. Happy Mother's Day, Mom! Nicole Zacchia Mom. One simple word to name a person who I have shared a million laughs and shed a million tears with. We have always had our similarities which have caused our differences. Unlike other mothers, she will listen to our faults and will always forgive us for them as long as we are honest. Our opinions may not always be the same, but we know they are important. We have great stories to tell between each other and know that there are thousands more to come. I love my mom and know that she will always be there for me. Sarah DaCorsi Having lost my mother in 2005 due to breast cancer, the previous Mother's Days have been difficult. How I miss her. When it came to the great challenges of life, Mom was my biggest encourager. One such challenge has been teaching high school. Before I first walked into the classroom, I was both excited and terrified. After having gone shopping for the perfect outfit, mom took my picture and cheered me on as I began my new career. Almost 20 years later, I am thankful to her for whatever success I have had with my students. Thanks, Mom! Matt Osuna The reason my mom is special is because she always has my back. It does not matter what the situation is, she always is always there for me. Even when being accused of plagiarism or anything, she is always there for me. She helps with homework, cooks, cleans and has always been there for me, and that is why my mom is special. Vincent Duarte Why my mother Sally is so special: No matter what has ever happened in her life, good or bad, she manages to always put her family first. She is truly my hero, and every day she makes me want to be a better person. Her unwavering hard work and devotion to us all (four children) have made us what we are today. I love her so much, and I will honor her every day of my life. What she has taught me by example is that truth, integrity and honor matter and that life is wonderful, live it and enjoy it. Most of all be true to yourself and in doing so, you will never lose your way. How lucky am I. Mary Darling My mom is very nice. She has pretty hair and beautiful eyes. She helps me with my homework. Sometimes she picks me up from school. She is a teacher. She plays with me a lot every day. She takes me to the movies, library, bookstore, museum, zoo and drives me to my art and piano classes. I love her more than anything. I wish that my mom could live forever, like 200 years or more. I love her a lot. Tamara, 6 To me, my mom is a special mom, a mom who is always there when I need her and always cares. Through the bad and the good, through the sad and the happy, my mom will always be by my side. She had and always will make me smile at the hard times in my life and especially the happy times. She is the one I will never forget, and I will always remember the times we spent together. I will always love her, and she will always love me. Kimberly Antista Mom is such a big word, but when I say it to my mom, I do it really proudly. For me, she is the best woman in the world. I grew up with her, and she is always giving me her love. My mom is always there to help me out when I need her, and she always supports me with my biggest decisions. Roberto Molina My mother is unspeakably amazing. She has seen her only two sons enlist into the United States Marine Corps during a time of war, and like every military mother she is filled with pride for our commitment to our country as well as pain over having both her sons away from home during such dangerous times. Elizabeth Smith My mom is special for many reasons, mainly because she has supported and raised me throughout my whole life. She provides me with everything I need. Another reason my mom is special is because she always forgives me. Sometimes I say hurtful things or words I don't mean to say, but I am always forgiven and corrected. My mom is always there for me and cheers me up when I am sad. Whenever I am sick she always takes good care of me. She also cooks breakfast for me every morning, and I am very thankful for that. Emily Jensen My mother is special to because she's my mom, and even though she's not the best she still takes care of me every day. Every day I come home, I see a lunch ready for me because I'm a growing boy. She also was the person that raised me from a baby. Andrew Bueno My mom is a beautiful, crazy, funny, single mom of two children. She's my best friend, and she's always there for me. She's the type of mom that calls everybody "Honey." She's a big family person and loves kids. After everything she's been through with our family, she still manages to stay strong and happy with her life. She's my "guardian angel" and has made me into the young woman I am today. I wish she could see what my brother, stepdad and I see in her every day. My life would be incomplete without her. Chelsea Lovelace Beautiful, smart, kind, sweet, loving. That's my mom in just a few words. In my eyes, my mom is my guardian angel. Not only has she saved my life, but she has been there from the beginning. Starting with my first steps, smiles and giggles. When I received an award in second grade, when I made my first goal and for my first heartbreak. No matter what, she has always been there for me. She has made me the person I am today. Without my mom in my life and world I would be incomplete. Nikki Carnevale My mom. Even though we argue at times and don't always get along, I look up to her very much. I wish to be like her one day. She is a very strong and powerful woman. My mom has always been there for me, my brothers and my sisters. My mom has always pushed me to do good in school and helped me keep my head held high. I can't wait to see the look on her face at my graduation. I will come up to her with tears and say, "Thank you, Mom; I have made it." I love my mom very much. Araceli Garcia I always called her "my guardian angel here on earth." Everyone who knew Mother, also affectionately known as "Grandma Melba," loved her. Always, she was doing something kind for someone and was famous for her scrumptious cinnamon rolls she generously shared. As a girl, I remember her ironing clothes for 10 cents apiece so I could take the piano lessons she was never able to have. Although she was an exceptional seamstress, cook and homemaker, most of all she was an adoring mother and grandmother, always exemplifying a Christlike love. Sadly, she died on Christmas day. Now she is my guardian angel in heaven. Dianna Baker Davis My mom is very special. Whenever I need help, she is always there for me. I am home-schooled, and she always helps me learn new things. Even when she's hurt or sick she tries to help me. She cares for me and takes me on fun field trips and helps me have fun after school. She gets movies and books to help me more deeply understand what I learn in school. My mom is very special to me. Zane Shires I would like to wish my mom a happy Mother's Day. She is one of a kind and deserves so much more then she has, and I just want her to know that. Brandon Gutierrez Mom, I am thankful that you were there for me when I was young, and I am thankful that you are here for me now. My love for you is timeless. Paula Minotta-Kelso My mom is an all-around amazing woman. She is caring and kind. She is strong and courageous. Every day I marvel at her generosity and patience. My mom is an extraordinary woman who does lots for me. She drives me to all my sports' practices and doesn't complain. She helps me with my homework and is willing to stay up late if needed. She wakes up early to get ready for the day and always has lots of energy. In addition, she runs marathons and trains in the early morning. My mom loves her family and does all she can to make us have a good time. My mom is an amazing woman who loves and cares for her family. Brandon Joaquin Mother. Is that the most beautiful word? My mother is amazing. She really is the most incredible woman that could ever exist. I try and tell her every day that she's beautiful. She raised my older brother and me with her own ideas and aspirations, and makes us believe that we can create any dream. She tells us every day that we are great children, and I want to tell her that in my 21 years of existence she amazes me every day and in every way. Mom, you are an inspiration. Brian Langdon We love you so much! Thank you for everything you do for us. You're the greatest mom anyone can ask for. You do so much for us, and we really appreciate you. Heather, Teresa, and Sarah My mom isn't the best mom in the world, but she is always there for me. When I get a bad grade on a test or quiz she will yell at me, but I know that is just her way of loving me. After I get in trouble, she would explain and teach me why I should not have done it. So be nice to your mom, too; you will not regret it for the rest of your life. Mike Zhou I remember how my mom taught me to subtract. It wasn't easy, but she never gave up helping me. She wanted me to learn and not forget. We'd be every day outside of my house practicing for hours. It wasn't fun, but she always made it fun, and we could spend more time together. She might not have been a teacher, but she taught like one. She might not be perfect or the best for others, but for me, she's that and more. Everything I have to say is thank you, Mom. I love you. David Cabrera I have a lot of great memories of my mom. My mom and I were close, and I miss her a lot. She was a fighter up until the day she died of diabetes. She always had a positive look on life. She was an inspiration to a lot of people in our church. Dale Patterson Mom, you are the one that gave me life. Carried me for nine months inside of you. Almost died giving me an opportunity to live. You were there when I made my first steps. Picked me up when I fell. Year after year, you showed me how to appreciate life. While watching the rain caress the hills and trees, we sat down and talked. I always asked you questions: how, when, why and where. You were always patient in giving me answers. Though you are gone, you will always be in my heart, until my last breath. Clariza Gutierrez Jalisco When I think of someone that knows me the best and would do anything to keep me safe, I think of my mother. She has always been there for me through everything tough and easy. She has always supported me in my goals and does whatever she can to help me reach them. Thanks to her I have become who I am today. The bond between us is very strong that I can think of her not only as my wonderful mother but as a good friend. For everything that she has, is and will do for me, I thank her. Stephanie Soto My mom is special to me for many reasons. One time I remember when I was eight years old; I broke my arm playing hockey. My mom went to the hospital, and she sat in the waiting room with my family and me. She went into the X-ray room and into the room where the doctors had to set my arm. She held my hand, not the broken one, while they set my arm back into place. The first night when I went to bed she stayed up all night just to make sure I was okay. Kyle Jordan My mom is so special that she cares about my sister and I more than anything in the world. We are her pride and her life. I just want to thank her for everything that she does for us. She is the most special person in the world and in my life. The most important thing she does is that she is there when I need her and when I have a problem. When I have a hard time thinking about my problems she helps me make up my mind and do the right thing. Happy Mother's Day! Jake Alvarez Notes from Mrs. Whipp's third-grade class, Wood Ranch Elementary: My mom is special because she is very nice to people. Also, she understands how I feel. She always challenges me to do better at everything. She also tries her best to help me. That is why she is very special to me. No matter what, she couldn't be any more special than she is. Every time I say I can't, she says I can. When I fail at something she cheers me up. She also never lets me down. I think she is the best mom ever. So that is why I love her so much. Michael O'Mora My mommy is special because she takes care of me when I'm ill. She helps me when I have problems. She talks things through with me. She helps me with my homework. She lets me lick the spoon when we bake. She encourages me to do my best. She plays games with me. She is a big helper to the school. She is the best Brownie troop leader.
