Dump-for-free day is back at Simi Landfill
Don't forget to bring proof of residency

Simi Valley residents are invited to drop off trash, green waste and bulky items free of charge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 Madera Road, Simi Valley.

Residents may bring nonhazardous, residential trash and green waste items. Certain items, including televisions, electronics and household hazardous waste, will not be accepted.

Waste Management provides two free disposal days per year. Last May more than 1,100 tons of trash, green waste, dirt and concrete were collected.

The following guidelines will help minimize delays:

•Be ready with valid identification to show proof of residency to the cashier.

•All loads must be tarped pursuant to California state law.

•All loads are subject to inspection.

•All commercial vehicles are subject to applicable rates unless prior arrangements have been made.

To encourage recycling efforts and reduce the amount of waste entering the landfill, there will be designated areas and containers for recycling.

There will also be separate unloading areas for concrete, asphalt, green waste, and construction and demolition waste.

In addition, containers will be available to drop off and recycle metal items, paper and cardboard.
