Crosswalk violations just part of the problem

Thank you for inviting comments about Simi Valley drivers.

I have driven in this valley for many years and have noted a gradual deterioration in what might be considered reasonable driving habits. Crosswalk violations are only a part of the overall picture.

I live in an area once considered to be a quiet residential neighborhood. Things have changed in recent years, and we now have the city buses, school buses, shuttle buses and commercial vehicles regularly traveling the streets.

The area is bordered on the west by Lemon and Tapo Canyon on the east, Avenida Simi on the north and Alamo south.

These streets are heavily traveled by speeders and some that think a stop sign is part of the landscape and can be ignored as long as "no one" is watching.

Drivers on these streets pass the Boys & Girls Club, Rancho Tapo Park, Adult Senior Center and until recently a day-care center.

One stop sign and three crosswalks to control hundreds of vehicles daily?

How about a sting on the conscious violators?
