Summer school classes will be limited

Due to the current fiscal situation, summer school class offerings in the Simi Valley Unified School District will be limited this year.

Summer school for high school students will be offered at Royal High School from Monday, June 23 to Friday, July 25.

Classes will be offered only in the core subject areas of English, math, science, social science and foreign language for the purposes of credit recovery for students who received a failing grade in a specific subject.

Students who received a D grade will be placed on a spaceavailable basis.

There will be no summer school opportunities for enrichment or "go-ahead" purposes or general education middle school students.

Classes for remediation assistance with the California High School Exit Exam will also be available.

Summer school on the elementary level will be offered at Garden Grove Elementary School from Monday June 23 to Friday, July 18, and will serve only second, thirdand fourth-grade retained students.

A special education program will also be held on the campus.

Student applications for summer school will be available at the school sites. Questions pertaining to elementary summer school enrollment should be directed to one's child's school principal. Questions about secondary summer school enrollment should be directed to the counselors at each high school.
