All eyes on the butterfly

IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers SPREADING ITS WINGS- Troop 878 Girl Scouts Charlie Coons, 11, left, and Sarah Wix, 10, watch in amazement as they open a tiny box to release a monarch butterfly, which spread its wings and flew into the air over the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center during Waste Management's Earth Day festival on Sunday. The festival included crafts, refreshments, tree planting demonstrations, sapling giveaways, landfill tours and the ribboncutting for the new butterfly habitat.
