Want to hit the trails? The Rancho Simi Valley Trailblazers present the following hikes for April. Go to www .simitrailblazers.com for driving directions to sites, updates or changes to the schedule. Hikes are canceled for rain and there are no hikes on holidays. Regularly scheduled hikes include the following. •Sundays, 5 p.m., strenuous hike. Meet at the Rocky Peak trailhead, end of Rocky Peak Road on the Santa Susana Pass. •Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m., easy to moderate hike. Meet in the Long Canyon parking lot, intersection of Long Canyon Road and Wood Ranch Parkway. •Thursdays, 6 p.m., moderate to strenuous hike. Meet at Chumash trailhead, end of Flanagan Drive. Special hikes include: •April 19, Mt. McCoy and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, moderate hike. Meet at 8 a.m. near Donut Delite, corner of Madera and Royal. Wear boots and bring a snack and two to three quarts of water. •April 19, 1 p.m., mountain lion presentation at the Oak Park Community Center & Gardens, 1000 N. Kanan Road, Oak Park. The event features a live animal presentation on wildlife/human conflict occurring on the urban edges and a variety of solutions to these encounters. •April 26, Marr Ranch and Chumash Trail to Northridge Trail, easy to moderate hike. Meet at 8 a.m. at the 118 Freeway and Stearns Street Park & Ride. Bring a quart of water and a snack. Wear sturdy shoes. |
