Alcoa employees buckle down at Strathearn

DUSTING OFF HISTORY- Employees from Alcoa Fastening Systems in Simi Valley pitch in to help clean up the old Simi General Store at Robert P. Strathearn Historical Park.
On April 5, 29 employees of Alcoa Fastening Systems-Simi Valley, along with family members and friends, volunteered to clean up the exhibits in the Wood Ranch Exhibit Hall of the Robert P. Strathearn Historical Park and Museum.

The park staff, in appreciation of these efforts, took the volunteers on a private tour of the grounds of the park where they were able to see up the original St. Rose of Lima Church, the Strathearn House, the original Simi Library, the Simi General Store and other exhibits on the 6-acre site.

Employees from Alcoa regularly volunteer in the community to support local schools and nonprofit organizations.

They also work with area student athletes by providing new running shoes for those who might otherwise not be able to afford them.

This work is part of the global ACTION (Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods) program funded by the Alcoa Foundation.

As a result of the volunteer work, these organizations may apply and receive a $3,000 financial grant.
