Bringing science to life
Approximately 800 students countywide in grades six through 12 have entered science projects in the fair. The projects will be available for public view ing from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23. Categories covered are animal sciences, behavioral and social sciences, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, medicine and health sciences, microbiology, plant sciences, chemistry, computer science, Earth and planetary science, electrical and mechanical engineering, materials and bioengineering, energy and transportation, environmental sciences and management, mathematical sci ences, physics and astronomy. Local professionals in the sci ences will judge the projects on April 23. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. April 24 at Seaside Park's Anacapa Hall. Students with the top projects qualify to enter the California State Science Fair in Los Angeles on May 19 and 20.The 2008 Ventura County Science Fair is sponsored by the Ventura County Office of Education, County Schools Federal Credit Union, Amgen and various science-related organizations.
