Go off to see 'The Wiz' at Royal High School

EMERALD CITY- Student actors Jesse Taylor, A.J. Ruiz, Tiffany Bickford and Eric Austin play the lead roles in the Royal Drama Players' presentation of "The Wiz." The show, a retelling of L. Frank Baum's famous story, opens April 17 at Royal High School.
The Royal Drama Players will present the musical "The Wiz" at 7 p.m. April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 in the multipurpose room at Royal High School, 1402 Royal Ave., Simi Valley.

The show is directed by Joy Enright, with technical direction by Jerry Enright, choreography by Jennifer Christman and musical direction by Jerry Ursetti.

The musical is a retelling of L. Frank Baum's 1900 story "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" using rock, gospel and soul music, and includes the song "Ease on Down the Road." The Broadway production won seven Tony Awards, including best musical.

Tickets are reserved seating $12, general admission $10, students with ASB $8, and seniors and children 11 and under $6. Box office opens one hour before showtime, and tickets will be sold at the door. Refreshments will be available.
