Students strut their stuff at spring dance concert

The Dance Department at Moorpark College presents its annual spring student dance concert, "Motion Flux," an evening of original works by student choreographers, guest artists and select faculty at 8 p.m. tonight, Fri. and Sat., April 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. Sun., April 13.

This year's program, directed by Robert Salas and Beth Megill, includes the Cal State Channel Island Dance Ensemble under the direction of Carinne Bach.

A selection of Moorpark College dancers also had the opportunity to learn and perform the work of guest artist Molly Lynch, assistant professor at UC Irvine and former artistic director of Ballet Pacifica.

Guest artist Israel "El" Gabriel has performed with highly acclaimed ensembles both locally and worldwide.

Along with nationallyrecognized dancer Bobby Amamizu, Gabriel offers two variations of Marius Petipa's original choreography.

The student choreographers presenting works are David Barrios, Chelsea Dean, Geneva DePalma, Karen Jordan, Christine Kerrigan, Jessica Ramuno and Kristin Rice.

General public tickets are $16. Tickets for students, seniors and staff are $9.
