Local political groups meet this week

•The Simi Valley-Moorpark Democratic Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at the Simi Valley Library Community Room, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

Guest speakers include Brad Parker, president of Valley Democrats United, and Ahjamu Makalani, vice chair of the California Democratic Party Progressive Caucus. They will discuss the progressive movement and take questions from the audience.

•The Simi Valley-Moorpark Republican Women, Federated, will host Assembly members Audra Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) and Cameron Smyth (RSanta Clarita) at noon Friday, April 18 at the Posada Royale, 1775 Madera Road, Simi Valley.

Both legislators are candidates for reelection.

The meeting is open to all Republican women, and reservations are required.
