Plenty planned for Kiwanis Blues Fest

Write4Hope and Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley will present the third annual Blues Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Oak County Park, 901 Quimisa Drive, Simi Valley.

Heading the lineup will be electric guitarist Robben Ford, who received his fifth nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album of the Year for his CD "Truth."

Other musicians include Jimmy Z and the ZTribe, Simi Valley resident Michael John & The Bottom Line, BB Chung King & The Buddaheads, Laurie Morvan Band, and Barry "Big B" Brenner.

Actor and musician Mickey Jones will serve as master of ceremonies. Frank Kramer and Heidi Hamilton from the Frosty, Heidi and Frank Show on 97.1 Free FM will also appear.

There will be a raffle for three guitars signed by the artists.

New for the festival this year is an RV package for $150 that includes festival tickets for two, plus three days and two nights at Oak County Park. Quantity is limited, and reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis.

Advance purchase tickets are $20 for adults and $25 at the gate. Child's admission is $5; children 4 and under are admitted free.

Proceeds from the event will help support local charities, including the Free Clinic and the Samaritan Center of Simi Valley.

On-site parking is $10. Free off-site parking with free shuttle service will be available at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road.
