Strickland needs to start placing blame elsewhere Brilliant! Tony Strickland's opinion piece states that we should cut "nonessential" services. What would that be? He blames most of California's budgetary problems on illegal immigration. Most illegals do pay income and Social Security taxes. If illegals were properly paid a living wage and given health insurance, they wouldn't need so many social services. Comprende? He doesn't say that most of his corporate business buddies love illegal workers. I am waiting for CEOs to be frog-marched out of their offices for hiring illegals. There are fewer illegals on union jobs. But mention union and Republicans blanch and break out in a cold sweat. Tony doesn't mention that stalwart Bush friend Ron Lay, may his soul rest in peace, was responsible for the multibillion ripoff of California from which we have still not recovered. Business as usual, and unregulated. Huzzah! Immigrants do pose a problem, but to make them the main source of the problem is scapegoating. Then the irony of paraphrasing the god of the Republican party, Reagan, while not mentioning that it was under Reagan's governorship that amnesty was granted to millions of illegals. Remember that, Tony? He then mentions "renewable technology" while on page 2 of the Acorn it states, "Strickland serves as vice president of . . . a renewable energy development company." Can we hope he won't funnel public money to his business? Patsy Lowe Simi Valley |
