Landfill hosts open house for Earth Day

Waste Management will host a free Earth Day Festival and Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 N. Madera Road.

Events include a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new butterfly habitat and the Construction and Demolition Recycling Facility, landfill tours, music, complimentary refreshments, and arts and crafts activities for children.

Simi Valley Girl Scout Troop 878 will hand out trees and demonstrate how to properly plant them.
