Workshops will offer advice on getting hired

The East County Job and Career Center, 980 Enchanted Way in Simi Valley, will host several Career Shops in April.

•Computer Basics for Job Seekers from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 14 will help attendees become familiar with Windows desktop programs to enhance their job skills.

•Resumes that Sell from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 16 and 17 is a twoday workshop providing handson assistance in completing a resume, cover and thank-you letters.

•Winning Interviews from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17 supplies the tools to make a lasting first impression when interviewing.

•Online Job Search Strategies from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 teaches useful and successful methods of surfing the Internet for job leads and how to properly respond. Attendees must have basic computer skills and bring a completed resume on a 3½-inch floppy diskette.

•Power of VOS from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 29 will cover the Virtual OneStop system, a useful tool for anyone looking for work, training or career exploration on the Internet.
