Simi doesn't need another church Hello, Simi Valley . . . wake up and smell the churches. The extensive list of churches in Simi Valley, published in the Acorn two weeks ago outnumbers the schools we have in Simi Valley. And we need another church? On Tierra Rejada Road? Has anyone ever noticed how many churches are located in industrial areas? Why, you ask? Because the rent in an industrial area is cheaper per square foot for the church. I agree with the other letter writers that a church has no right to bully its way into an area if the majority of the citizens do not want it built. Put it to a vote of the citizens. Leave our few remaining green and open spaces open and green. Didn't our hills already get raped by a big developer who decided to abandon their wanton destruction of our beautiful valley because home sales are down? Wake up, people, and don't allow this church to bully its way onto Tierra Rejada Road by using the Religious Land Use Act as a means of bullying. How would you feel if your home were destroyed to make way for that church? If the government used eminent domain we'd be outraged; so how does a church get away with citing the Religious Land Use Act? And thank you, City Council, for allowing all this raping of our valley. I guess money talks. Victoria Brooks Simi Valley |
