CERT begins taking applications

The Simi Valley Office of Emergency Services is accepting applications for the next Community Emergency Response Training class.

The CERT program educates residents and employees of local businesses to be selfreliant following a disaster.

Classes provide handson training and skills covering disaster preparedness, fire safety/suppression, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology and leadership.

All training is presented by Ventura County Fire Department in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Services.

CERT classes are held for six weeks on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. beginning May 7 at the Emergency Operations Center in the Police Department building, 3901 Alamo St., Simi Valley.

The course is free and open to residents ages 18 and older.

Applications are available at the Simi Valley Police Department and online at www.simivalley.org.

Completed applications can be mailed or delivered to Theresa Adams, CERT Program Coordinator, City of Simi Valley Office of Emergency Services, 3901 Alamo St., Simi Valley, CA, 93063. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until Friday, April 25.
