Simi officers win MADD awards

Two Simi Valley Police officers were presented with the MADD Deuce Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving at an awards breakfast in Culver City on March 20.

The Los Angeles/Ventura County Chapter of MADD commended Officers Steven Philbrook and Howard Horwitz for their effrots to remove impaired drivers from Simi Valley roadways in 2007.

Philbrook lead the department with 41 DUI arrests, followed by Horwitz who made 40 DUI arrests.

Philbrook also received the MADD California Hero Award at banquet at the state Capitol in Sacramento on March 29. This award was given to 179 law enforcement officers around the state for leading their agency in DUI arrests in 2007. Philbrook had the second highest number in Ventura County.

Horowitz received this same award the previous year.
