Dance students have the right moves

Simi Dance Center won numerous awards at its first group dance competition of the year, Thunderstruck Dance Competition, held in Lakewood, Calif. on March 15 and 16.

The dancers and studio received 46 Lightning Gold top score awards and 10 gold awards. Many solo, duet, trio, small group, large group and production numbers won first place overall awards.

Special Judges' awards for most creative costume, commitment to music and the top awards went to the dancers and studio for tap excellence, best choreography and highest overall point score.

The team moves on to competitions in Pomona, Hermosa Beach and Ontario, Calif., and will represent Simi Valley at the KAR National Competition in Las Vegas in July.
