Entries being accepted for national teacher awards Time Warner Cable is seeking entries for its 2008 National Teacher Awards. The long-standing program, now in its 19th year, recognizes classroom projects that use resources provided to schools by Time Warner Cable as a way to enhance the classroom learning experience for students and teachers. Fifteen teachers or teacher teams will be chosen from entries submitted from areas served by Time Warner Cable divisions around the country. Winners receive a $2,000 cash prize, $3,000 cash for the advancement of classroom technology for their school and a Crystal Apple sculpture, as well as an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Washington, D.C., for an awards celebration. In 2007 Time Warner Cable initiated a new award to acknowledge the role a principal plays in supporting a teacher's use of technology as an effective learning tool. Nominations for this award can only be made online at www.timewarnercable.com. The Champion Principal will be recognized at the awards gala in Washington and will receive $5,000 for classroom technology enhancement in his or her school. To be eligible to enter projects for consideration in the National Teacher Awards, teachers must be in a state accredited public or private school, kindergarten through 12th grade, located within a Time Warner Cable service area. To be eligible, classroom projects must fall within the 2007-08 school year. For more information or to receive an entry form, visit www.timewarnercable.com. The deadline for application submission is Tuesday, April 1. |
