Elks name their most excellent

The Simi Valley Elks Lodge No. 2492 held its 2007-08 awards night and dinner last Friday, March 14.

Awards and year pins were presented by exalted ruler Mike Johnson and his wife, Heather. Johnson also prepared the night's dinner.

•Citizen of the Year was awarded to Bonnie Schaefer for her continuous work with the Challenger Little League.

•The "Tall Elk" award went to Robert Cirillo for his devotion to beautifying the grounds of the lodge.

•Officer of the Year was given to Olivia Morales for her dedication to the Elks.

•Elk of the Year was presented to Dennis Wavra for his work as Americanism chair and other lodge events.

The Elks will present a kid's egg hunt and Easter party at the lodge, 1561 Kuehner Ave., Simi Valley, at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23.
