Come fly with teaching zoo's Butterfly Project

America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College was established as a captive rearing site for the endangered Palos Verdes blue butterfly in February 2007. Since that time a revolutionary method of hand feeding has created successful results.

The Butterfly Project at the Zoo has produced more than 1,000 federally listed, endangered, adult butterflies that are ready to be released back to their native habitat on the Palos Verdes Peninsula over the next few weeks.

The butterflies can be seen by visitors to the zoo's Spring Spectacular over three weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and seniors.

For more information, call the zoo at (805) 378-1441.
