Reagan Foundation scholarships available to qualified seniors

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation has announced its ninth year of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Scholars Program.

The program rewards high school seniors in Ventura County who have demonstrated qualities of leadership and strong character throughout their four years of high school.

This year the Reagan Foundation has increased the number of scholarships it will grant, as well as the dollar figure it will give away. A total of $50,000 in scholarships will be awarded, with the top three scholarships between $5,000 and $10,000.

In addition, each of the three students will select a teacher to receive $500 for use within their classroom. Other students will be awarded amounts ranging from $250 to $5,000.

Students designated as Presidential Library Scholars will be invited with their families to a dinner on May 2, when the scholarship funds will be awarded.

Applications can be picked up from Ventura County Unified School District high schools or downloaded from the website www.reaganlibrary.com.

Applications must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. Monday, March 17.
