Letter was not an attack on soldiers

There is no mistake about my letter published in the Acorn. The purpose was not to disparage what our brave troops are doing overseas, not just in Iraq, but in all the overseas countries.

This is about free speech, one of our great freedoms here in America. I would never oppose anyone from saying what's on their minds, even when we disagree.

To say we can only speak our minds from the comfort of our homes is just not right. It disrespects all of the other military personnel that have come before us and, yes, given their lives so we can have these freedoms.

One more thing- I am a 30 percent disabled veteran who volunteered four years of my life for my country, so I think I've earned my right to speak up. Mark Luker Simi Valley
