Bird lovers busy in March

The Conejo Valley Audubon Society announces its birding trips for March.

•A trip to Hill Canyon is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, March 1. The group will meet at Santa Rosa Park, over the bridge and into the park in Hill Canyon, and look for goldfinches, sparrows, hawks, ducks, phainopeplas and yellow rump warblers. •Rich Congersky will lead a group to Sepulveda Nature Preserve. The group will meet 7:30 a.m. Sunday, March 9 at Rancho ParkandRide to carpool. Birds will include ducks and water birds, sparrows, hawks and songbirds. For more information, call Congersky at (805) 381-2691.

•A plant and bird walk will take place 9 a.m. Saturday, March 15. Participants will meet at the parking lot National Recreation Area/Sierra Vista. Mary Ann Campbell will teach about the plants and birds seen along the walk.

•Tom Halprin will lead a walk, meeting at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, March 25 at the Los Posas Park-and-Ride to carpool. The trip will be on private property. Expected birds include ducks, shorebirds, hawks and herons. For more information, call Halprin at (805) 746-4598.

•A trip to Soule Park is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31. The group will meet at the Las Posas Park-and-Ride and look for woodpeckers, sparrows, hawks and early migrants. For more information, call Dee Lyon (805) 499-2615.
