Schools shouldn't be used as polling places

I want to bring this to the attention of parents, principals, school boards, etc.

Is it safe for voting to be done at local schools?

Schools are attempting to take security measures to keep the students- our children- safe by fencing and locking out trespassers, and what do we do on voting day? Welcome them in. We undo all the safety precautions and efforts of the schools on this day.

There is no way to properly supervise and secure the schools on voting days. Schools don't have enough supervision hours and people for everyday security and safety, much less adding hundreds of strangers on voting day.

Don't get me wrong- voting is a good thing. I'm all for it. Just not at the risk of our children and their safety.

Why not use city/town halls, libraries, unused buildings, etc. for this function? Makes more sense to me. Sue Acosta Simi Valley
