Man accused of torturing, assaulting ex-wife
Victim found near death by current husband

Louis Gonzalez, 30, of Henderson, Nev., was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted murder of his former wife, age 33, of Simi Valley.

A man arrived home on Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. to find his wife beaten and tied up inside their residence in the 1900 block of Penngrove Street.

The wife said that her former husband, Gonzalez, pushed her to the ground and then dragged her upstairs, where he tied her up.

Gonzalez then allegedly sexually assaulted the woman using foreign objects, burned her with matches and placed a bag over her head to choke her.

At one point, the victim pretended to be unconscious and the suspect fled the residence.

The suspect was found in the 1700 block of Erringer Road, arrested without incident and booked at the Ventura County Jail.

Gonzalez was charged with several felonies, including premeditated attempted murder, torture and sex crimes.

A judge denied Gonzalez bail. His next court date is set for Feb. 22 in courtroom 37.
