805 Boot Camp

805 Boot Camp is where adults learn to love exercise. Randy and Sarita Shoemaker started the outdoor boot camp in June 2006 with 12 campers. Since then they have grown to the maximum capacity for the last three sixweek boot camps.

"We are humbled with the percentage of returning campers every new tour," Randy Shoemaker said. "This isn't a 'just show up when you can' group. We are tough on attendance, tough on your food intake and very tough on getting 100 percent out of each of our campers at the outdoor workout. Usually in the first week we hear a few cries of disbelief when we demand push-ups, but by the third week no one is complaining because they are focused on their goals and working hard."

The boot camp uses the parks, hills and trails of Simi Valley. To give back, the camp hosts four fundraisers for local groups, including Rancho Simi Trailblazers.

The second annual Love Run will be Feb. 17 at Rocky Peak Trailhead, and 100 percent of funds collected will be given to the Trailblazers. Last year the camp donated more than $350.
