Following standards set forth by the FBI, the Simi Valley Police Department released its 2007 Part I crime statistics on Wednesday.

Violent crime dropped and property crimes rose in '07, according to the report, which included statistics on homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larcency, theft and arson.

The city's violent crime rate decreased 10.5 percent from 1.62 crimes per 1,000 population to 1.45- a total of 18 fewer violent crimes.

The city's property crime rate increased 13.2 percent from 16.97 crimes per 1,000 to 19.21. The increase is a result of an additional 310 more property crimes committed in 2007 compared to 2006.
