Plush toys donated to Los Robles

Miss Ventura County's Outstanding Teen Chaya Turrow has partnered with Our Community House of Hope to donate 50 plush puppies to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center for distribution to patients in need of comforting.

Turrow, 15, a sophomore at Moorpark High School, received her title in October 2007. She embraced a community service platform to further the vision of Our Community House of Hope, a nonprofit organization that seeks to establish a free-standing hospice house in the Conejo Valley area.

In November 2007 she asked for donations to fund the purchase of "Sparky" plush puppies. She raised more than $1,300 for House of Hope, which used part of the funds to purchase the puppies for donation to local hospitals. Turrow and Teresa Wolf from House of Hope presented the toys to Los Robles.

"We can't thank Our Community House of Hope, and especially Miss Turrow, enough for choosing Los Robles Hospital for these donations," said Kris CarrawayBowman, vice president of marketing for Los Robles. "You can't imagine the joy that these darling stuffed animals will bring to our pediatric and adult patients. The sensitivity of Our Community House of Hope to our patients' needs is heartwarming. The gift of giving to one who is ill will be remembered for a lifetime."
