Plain and simple- it's litter

I found the recent letters regarding the use of toilet paper to cover trees somewhat humorous.

First off, I agree that Mr. Fols is being a bit extreme in assuming that teenagers (I assume it is teenagers that are doing this) TP'ing someone's house will lead to more serious "criminal acts." The answer is "yes" for some, but for most, I doubt it.

Second, to say that TP'ing is just a "harmless prank" or that they are just being teenagers and that it's no big deal is also flawed and shows how little we care about our neighbors.

Even though no one is hurt and no property is damaged it still makes a mess that somebody has to clean up.

I could throw a pile of rotting garbage on your front porch, which also does not cause any permanent property damage; however, you would still have to clean it up, and I doubt that anyone would appreciate it.

Third, no one has bothered to mention that it is littering. Plain and simple.

It is no different from throwing your trash out the car window. It looks like hell and shows an utter disregard for the environment (for which everyone claims to be an advocate these days).

Lastly, what a waste of perfectly good toilet paper and a waste of time that we are discussing this subject. If people are going to worry about things, they should worry about things that really matter. John S. Leslie Simi Valley
