Classes offered on how to be a docent

The Simi Valley Historical Society is offering docent training from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, Jan. 29 and 31, and Feb. 5 and 7 at Strathearn Historical Park and Museum, 137 Strathearn Place, Simi Valley.

All four classes must be attended for accreditation.

Volunteers will be trained on the Chumash Indian, Spanish Rancho and American history of Simi Valley.

Docents can participate in various activities, such as giving tours, preservation of artifacts, school programs and special events.
