K9 sinks teeth into fleeing suspect

The Simi Valley Police Department K9 Unit helped to apprehend a suspect, Che Anthony Spady Pascua, 22, of Simi Valley.

On Jan. 13 at about 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a call to assist a CHP unit after Pascua fled from a vehicle that may have been stolen and that was stopped on the shoulder of eastbound Highway 118 west of Kuehner Drive in Simi Valley. The police and CHP officers conducted a search.

Residents in the 2200 block of Shreve Avenue later saw the suspect hiding in a backyard Jacuzzi. Pascua fled southbound on Shreve Avenue and into a neighboring backyard, where he was apprehended by the K9 Unit.

Pascua was taken to Simi Valley Hospital for treatment of puncture wounds and abrasions to both forearms caused by Gino, the police canine.

Pascua was later booked by the CHP at the Ventura County Main Jail on several charges including resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
