Humane Society lists events

The Humane Society of Ventura County will be participating in many activities throughout the year to promote animal awareness.

• February: Prevent a Litter Month.

• April: Animal Cruelty Prevention Month; National Pet ID Week, April 13 to 19.

• May: National Pet Week, May 4 to 10; Be Kind to Animals Week, May 4 to 10.

• June: Adopt a Shelter Cat Month; Pet Appreciation Week, June 1 to 7; Take Your Dog to Work Day, June 27.

• August: National Homeless Animal Day, Aug. 16.

• September: National Pet Memorial Day, Sept. 14.

• October: Adopt a Shelter Dog Month; World Pets Day, Oct. 2.

• November: Adopt a Senior Pet Month; National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 3 to 8; Santa Paws Holiday Photos, Nov. 22.

• December: Santa Paws Photos, Dec. 6.

The Humane Society of Ventura County focuses on animal rescue, spay/neuter programs, prevention of animal cruelty, and finding good homes for shelter animals.
