Group will discuss Santa Barbara Channel

The Ventura County Archaeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wed., Jan. 7 at the Newbury Park Library, 2331 Borchard Road.

Jennifer E Perry, PhD., assistant professor of archaeology at Pomona College, will talk on "Landscapes, Seascapes, and Spiritscapes of the Santa Barbara Channel."

Drawing from archaeology, ethnography, and historical accounts, Perry will discuss how the natural features of the islands and surrounding marine environment may have been perceived as spiritscapes by their Chumash inhabitants.
