Free Clinic Open House raised $30K

The Free Clinic of Simi Valley recently raised nearly $30,000 at its inaugural open house in November.

The event at the 2060 Tapo St. facility attracted about 100 people, including Mayor Paul Miller and school board member Debbie Sandland.

"It was a night of educating the public about the vital services we provide," said Fred Bauermeister, executive director for the clinic. "The local community as well as business leaders from the area helped raise funds that are vital this time of year and considering the current economic climate."

Donations are still being accepted and can be tax-deductible for the 2008 tax year if submitted by Dec. 31.
