With the start of the holiday season, the Simi Valley Police Department will increase its patrols of local shopping centers and malls.

The department's Reserve Officer Unit, Citizens on Patrol Program and Bicycle Patrol Team will augment the increased police presence.

Police are reminding residents to lock parked vehicles and remove valuable property from them. Never leave valuables in plain view while away from a vehicle; such items are tempting targets to criminals.

With the increased holiday crowds, parents should be especially mindful of children. Report any suspicious activity immediately.
