Scout helps creates mural for Vista Fundamental School
     ALL AMERICAN—Sam Morrissette, 14, and Vista Fundamental School principal Denise Ferguson stand in front of a mural on the school's campus. Sam, a former student at Vista Fundamental, along with fellow Boy Scouts and LDS youth group members, painted the mural on the weekend of Sept. 11. Local muralist Jerry Foote of Cartoon Rooms by the Foote donated his talent and time to help with the project. Dr. Dandona, Dr. Curry and Dr. Oh Orthodontics sponsored the project and Home Depot donated supplies. The mural was part of Sam's ongoing work to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Furry, friendly paper boy
     EATING UP THE NEWS—The Taylor family dog, Eli, a 2-year-old Portuguese Water Dog, fetches the Simi Valley Acorn for mom and dad Joyce and Tracy and daughter Teresa on a recent Friday morning. According to Tracy Taylor, Eli never fails in his job to fetch the weekly paper. "That's because he gets a treat when he brings it in," he said. The family has lived in the west end of Simi for 15 years.

CHP holds toy drive
      The California Highway Patrol will host the annual CHiPs for Kids Toy Drive through Sun., Dec. 21. The project, in conjunction with KCAL 9, collects toys for lowincome individuals, families and charities throughout California.

Catch will be donated to Food Share
      The Ventura County Sport Fisherman's Club and Jeff Grodin, owner of Capt. Hooks Sportfishing in Ventura, will host an event to support FOOD Share food bank. Up to 226 fishermen, women and children will board eight vessels belonging to the Capt. Hooks Sportfishing fleet and fish to help feed the hungry in Ventura County on Mon., Dec. 8.
