Memorial should be paid for with private money

Two issues on this one. First, in the first article about more cuts coming at city hall, City Manager Mike Sedell discusses all city programs are being reviewed and no one is off the hook.

He further says that the city is saving money because of all the vacancies. The city is able to get by because employees are working harder so the residents don't feel the impact.

It seems to me if nobody is noticing the impact after a reduction of 77 city employees then get rid of those spots permanently and maybe add a few more, i.e. city manager. The fact that the remaining workers are working harder is what used to be called a day's work for a day's pay.

The second issue is in an article a few pages later where Sedell is talking about this ridiculous memorial plan.

Sedell states cost is not an factor and the city is not worried about money. Obviously this man has never understood what a budget is.

If a family member or friend wants to plant a tree or put a memorial on private property, I say great. The city getting involved, I say no. Memorials cost, forever. Bob Witherspoon Simi Valley
