Let's keep Prop 8 in place

The Proposition 8 vote must be respected. It is nearly unfathomable that within days of California voters again determining that marriage is between a man and a woman, our governor encourages a different outcome by judicial means. How dare he do so.

He is required to fulfill his oath of office, which demands that he "support and defend" and "bear true faith and allegiance" to the California Constitution, which now defines marriage traditionally.

The legitimate process, determined by a 52 percent to 48 percent margin, reaffirmed the same decision that was reached just a few years ago. Unfortunately that original decision was overturned by the California Supreme Court by a 4to-3 majority.

Is there no respect for the law anymore? Would it be reasonable to recall justices that are willing to thwart the clear vote of the people should they choose to do so yet a second time? If this issue goes further this may be necessary.

Further, it is outrageous that the opponents to Proposition 8 feel entitled and empowered to assault those groups that supported a different view than theirs.

We cannot let them usurp our democratic process. Neil Fanning Simi Valley
