Crime Prevention Task Force is accepting new members

The Simi Valley City Council is accepting applications from residents to serve on the city's Community Crime Prevention Task Force.

The task force was formed to review crime statistics and trends and provide recommendations and strategies for local crime prevention through enforcement, education and engaging the community in collaborative efforts.

The task force is co-chaired by Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Foster and City Councilmember Steve Sojka and includes representatives from law enforcement, the school and park districts, the Youth Council, local religious and community service organizations and seven community members— six regular and one alternate.

Community members serve two-year terms.

Applications may be picked up from the Simi Valley Police Department at 3901 Alamo St. or downloaded from www .simivalley.org.

The deadline for returned completed applications to the police department is 5 p.m. Mon., Nov. 24.
