Simi Valley Girls Softball has announced the opening of registration for the spring 2009 recreation ball season.

SVGS is a nonprofit organization that provides fast pitch softball games and instruction to approximately 500 girls ages 4 to 16.

Registration lasts through Nov. 21. Informational meetings, where parents also can register players, are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 and Nov. 15 at Big Sky Park.

Big Sky Park is at 2251 Lost Canyons Drive, west of Lost Canyons Golf Course.

Fees through Nov. 21 are $110 for T-ball (4- to 6-year-olds), and $140 for all other divisions.

After Nov. 21, fees increase by $25 per player, and players are placed on a waiting list. Placement on a team is not guaranteed after Nov. 21.

Games are played at Big Sky Park and Apollo High School. The season lasts from tryouts in January to mid-May.

The league just completed the best year in its history, with the most players and number of teams.
