Royal High student becomes an Eagle Scout

Hayden Yeany, 17, of Simi Valley, received his Eagle Scout rank at an Eagle Court of Honor Oct 12 at the Elks Lodge in Simi Valley. The Elks Lodge is the charter organization that supports Troop 642.

Hayden is a senior at Royal High School in Simi Valley and a member of Boy Scout Troop 642.

Hayden has served in various leadership roles within the troop, including quartermaster, patrol leader, senior patrol leader and troop guide. He has earned 33 merit badges.

For his community service project, Hayden organized a recycling program at Royal High School. Hayden has been recognized as an exemplary model of citizenship at his school and received a nomination for community service from the Renaissance Program.

Hayden is a member of the National Honor Society. He runs on the school's varsity cross country and track teams. He was named most inspirational for track in 2006 and was voted the MVP of the cross-country JV team in 2007.

Hayden's Scoutmaster is Rich Rasmussen and his parents are Tim and Stacy Yeany.
