Capt. Dale Dye to speak at Veterans Day program

The sixth annual Veterans Day ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Tues., Nov. 11 at Rancho Tapo Community park Veterans Plaza, 3700 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley.

Retired Capt. Dale Dye, USMC is the guest speaker. He is known not only for his military service, medals and decorations but also as an actor, author and film consultant for such movies as "Platoon," "Casualties of War," "Born on the Fourth of July" and "Rules of Engagement."

Maj. Mark Shuster, USMC is the master of ceremonies. Ghislaine Sopher-Phillips will sing the national anthem. The Rev. Kurt Fredrickson will give the invocation and benediction and Mayor Paul Miller will offer remarks.

Gene Hostetler will make a special presentation to the family of Paul Mole, who had been active in veterans activities in Simi Valley for many years.

Lunch for all in attendance will follow the ceremony.

The event is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10049, Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 55, Ventura County Marine Corps League Detachment No. 597, Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley, Simi Valley Woman's Club and Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.
