County planning board made the right call
Okay, folks, let's get our valleys straight, because the valley described by Cornerstone Church is not the Tierra Rejada Valley.
Regarding the following quote from a story in the Acorn (Oct. 17): "The applicant (Cornerstone) also contended that there are similar and even more intense uses already allowed in the greenbelt, such as the Reagan Library, Todd Road Jail, BrandeisBardin Campus and Thomas Aquinas College."
Just what imaginary valley is Cornerstone talking about?
Yes, the Reagan Library is there, but Todd Road Jail and Thomas Aquinas College are in Santa Paula. And BrandeisBardin Campus is at the southern end of Tapo Canyon Road in Simi Valley.
Is the applicant trying to confuse the issue by mentioning institutions that are nowhere near the Tierra Rejada Valley, or is the applicant's knowledge of geography really that bad?
As for the hookers and jailbirds mentioned in a letter to the Acorn last Friday, I don't see them in the Tierra Rejada Valley either.
When I originally wrote to the Acorn protesting Cornerstone Church possibly being allowed to build a monolithic eyesore in the protected Tierra Rejada greenbelt, I was referring to the Tierra Rejada Valley between Simi Valley and Moorpark where Cornerstone has already bought property.
There is no jail there; neither is there a Catholic College nor Jewish University.
The only structure the applicant got right was the presidential library.
Bravo to the Ventura County Planning Commission for not being swayed by an organization with big bucks to spend on a land grab of our beautiful hillsides.
The greenbelt was instituted by a vote of the citizens of Ventura County, and if Cornerstone wants to defy the will of the people, let them put it on the ballot. Margie Roblin Simi Valley
