Kudos for being a good neighbor

2008-10-31 / Letters

I want to say thanks to Steve Ochs for his letter in the Acorn (Oct. 24).

I completely agree strongly and support his thoughts regarding tidiness in the neighborhood.

Our current financial crisis and substantial drop in property values demands we, as homeowners, do everything possible to keep our homes and city looking great.

That also means residents who rent should abide by the same perspective.

Simi Valley is becoming more and more prominent in the news—not only as one of the safest cities to live in, but as a wonderful place for new businesses—and seems to attract visitors from other cities.

In the past, I have submitted letters to the Acorn regarding lost shopping carts, neighbors with unsightly lawns, front yard repair shops and pet owners not picking up animal waste.

I am proud to say that it has made a difference in my neighborhood, and Mr. Ochs' letter really hits home.

Even if we need to speak to our neighbors or report them to code enforcement, it will be worth it to all of us.

Come on, everyone, set aside your attitude and think "Clean and Green." Let's increase our values together. Randy Campbell Simi Valley
