Anna Barson, 14, of Simi Valley, received honorable mention in the May 2008 Cricket magazine art competition.

In the contest, entrants were asked to depict a mother or father. Anna's name appears in the October issue.

Cricket magazine features short stories, poems, articles and illustrations by well-known children's authors and artists.

In each issue, the magazine sponsors a different writing or art competition, with up to 400 entries from around the world.

Winners receive recognition and prizes, and the best entries are published in the magazine or on the website.
