A free play reading will take place at 7 p.m. Sun., Nov. 2 at the High Street Arts Center, 45 E. High St., Moorpark.

The event is especially targeted at students. Classic short stories will be presented in a staged reading format.

The plays are "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allen Poe, adapted by Paul Millet; "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs, adapted by Jeff G. Rack; "Young Goodman Brown" by Nathaniel Hawthorne, adapted by Paul Millet; and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving, adapted by Jonathan Josephson.
